AFC Bournemouth are excited to be entering the Premier League for the first time in August as well as moving into new training facilities in time for pre-season. Situated at the stadium which is less than 2 miles from the beach these new facilities include treatment rooms, rehabilitation rooms, gymnasium, hydro pool and recovery suite. The academy train on a different site which is based in nearby Poole. The medical and sports science departments have grown over the past 4 years but still aren’t large in numbers compared to other clubs in the league. Despite this the work ethic and dedication of these staff is second to none. Currently three full time therapists work with the 1st team along with two full time sports scientists. Great emphasis have been put on pre-habilitation and recovery strategies. During AFC Bournemouth’s first season in the Championship (2013/14) there was 81.8% training & match availability.
